With the overwhelming support of our past members and staff, YMAA Andover (Tai Chi) re-opened after having been closed for 12-months due to COVID. The new studio, located in the center of downtown Andover, boasts 2,600 SF and is shared with a local bootcamp business.
Director/Instructor Alex Kiesel has resumed teaching beginners' classes along with managing and rebuilding the Tai Chi program. Enrollment has been strong and the feedback from our new and returning students has been very positive.
Along with Alex, the staff includes Tai Chi/Chi Kung Instructors Paul Blake, Meg Holmes and Dan Boland. Additionally Instructor Jeff Pratt rejoined the staff to offer continuation TC classes, Pushing Hands, and specialty workshops.
The highlight of the past year was having Dr. Yang visit us for the first time in three years. He offered three well-attended seminars in Andover and we also were able to celebrate YMAA's 40th Anniverary with Dr. Yang, his family and many of our former classmates in Roslindale during his Massachusetts visit.
2022 has been an incredible year to reconnect with former students, to meet new students and give back to the community which has been one of the well-known traits of YMAA Andover. With the assistance of Instructor Meg Holmes, we were able to raise and donate $690 to a local food bank in just two classes.
Our goals for 2023 are to continue building the current program, adding new specialty classes, hosting workshops with guest instructors and continue to give back to the community which has embraced our comeback.

About Yang's Martial Arts
(Andover)

Yang's Martial Arts Andover was formed in 1988 and has been offering quality instruction in traditional Chinese martial arts.
Yang's Andover was established by Alex Kiesel, one of Dr. Yang Jwing-Ming's first disciples. Mr. Kiesel begins his Martial Arts training 1978 in Kenpo Karate. In 1982, he began studying under Dr. Yang Jwing-Ming. After achieving Instructor level in 1986 under Dr. Yang, Mr. Kiesel open his first location on Haverhill Street (Rte. 133) in Andover, MA in 1988.
Over the years, Yang's Andover expanded its programing and locations to include a full scale fitness facility (gym). On September 30, 2020, Yang's Andover closed due to the insurmountable challenges created by COVID.
In October 2021, we began offering Tai Chi programs in a temporary location at 18 Red Spring Rd, Andover inside Andover Fitbody Bootcamp.
Our goal is to eventually find a 1,500 to 3,000 SF home in the area to call our own again soon!
